Department of Road starts construction of overhead bridge in Baneshwor

Kathmandu, July 2

The Department of Road has started the construction of an overhead pedestrian bridge in Naya Baneshwor.

The project was envisioned a few years ago, but it never got started because the department could not figure out where to construct the bridge.

“We took time because we needed to make sure that the bridge was in a safe place as the Parliament building is quite close by,” said the department’s spokesperson Shivahari Sapkota.

He added that construction began a few 100 metres away from the main junction and said that the department had set aside Rs 30 million for the bridge.

The department is also planning to construct an overhead bridge in Koteshwor, but due to disputes with locals regarding the location of the bridge, the project has been put on hold.
