Darchula: Another child missing in Mahakali after falling off a tuin

Dhangadhi, January 8

A child has gone missing in the Mahakali river, bordering Nepal and India, after falling off a tuin, a makeshift cable crossing, in the far-western district of Darchula.

Dipendra Bista (10), a resident of Dokat, Byas rural municipality-4 of the district, fell off the crossing into the river on Thursday morning, but officials got informed of the incident only on Saturday, informs Inspector Jagat Magar of the District Police Office.

Magar says local police personnel have been mobilised for the search of Bista, a fourth grader at Brahmasthan Basic School.

As reported to the police, the child had been to a forest area on the Indian side along with his mother.

Nepalis falling from tuins and missing or dying in the mighty river in the Darchula district is being reported almost every year of late.
