The District Administration Office of Parsa has lifted the curfew imposed in the Birgunj Metropolitan area from midnight on Sunday. Chief District Officer of Parsa, Ganesh Aryal, informed that the curfew was lifted starting from 12 midnight on Sunday.
“Analysing the overall peace and security situation within Birgunj Metropolitan, it has been observed that the situation is gradually improving. Furthermore, based on a five-point agreement reached during an all-party meeting on Sunday with concerned stakeholders, it was deemed unnecessary to continue the curfew order. Hence, the decision was made to lift the curfew from midnight,” said Chief District Officer Aryal.
However, considering that the situation has not yet fully returned to normal, the curfew within the Birgunj Metropolitan area has been lifted with caution, he added.
Following a clash between two communities, a curfew was initially imposed from Saturday at 7:30 PM until Sunday at 12 am.
The clash occurred on Saturday at around 4:50 PM when a religious procession organized by the World Hindu Council Nepal, Birgunj Metropolitan Committee, reached the front of Jama Masjid located at Shreeram Hall in Ward No. 2 of Birgunj.
