Covid-19 Nepal: Govt tells people not to go to airports to see off, receive relatives

Kathmandu, August 13

Citing the ever-growing threat of the Covid-19 spread, the government of Nepal has urged citizens not to crowd around airports.

As many Nepali families go to the airports to see off their members or relatives when they are travelling, the Tribhuvan International Airport administration has told them to stop doing that. Accordingly, it is not appropriate to go to the airport to receive people when they arrive, the airport administration.

In a notice issued on Friday, the airport requested the public not to visit the airport unless it is very necessary.

The notice has reminded travellers and airport staff of various health and safety protocols issued in a bid to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection.
