Kathmandu, February 22

Nepal’s opposition alliance has vowed to block governemnt efforts to get the constitution amendment bill passsed by Parliament to address the demands of the Madheshi Morcha.

A meeting of nine political parties, including the UML, reiterated the alliance’s stance on the bill, terming it as ‘anti-national’.

This comes as the government prepares to present the amendment bill before Parliament later today. The meeting of the opposition was organised to devise strategies to counter government attemepts, Pariwar Dal chief Eknath Dhakal told Onlinekhabar.

Nepal’s governemnt tabled the amendment bill in January amid protests, and is yet to put it to vote in the House. A two-third majority is required for the motion to sail through.
