Kathmandu, December 13
Leaders of three major political parties have discussed the prospect of holding local elections ahead of the Nepali New Year in April.
Leaders of the Nepali Congress, UML and Maoist Centre are weighing the option of keeping the constitution amendment bill on hold to announce election, UML chief KP Oli said.
“We discussed the prospect of announcing election date. We have no doubt that elections should be held soon,” Oli told mediapersons after the meeting.
The Nepali Congress has, however, said the government will not withdraw the constitution amendment bill the way the opposition wants it to.
