Compete in terms of development: PM tells chief ministers

Kathmandu, March 21

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has told chief ministers of the provinces to compete with one another in terms of development.

Oli, who was addressing a meeting high-level provincial officials in the capital, said that Nepal had limited time to achieve its development goals. He said that Nepal needs to head towards prosperity in the coming 13 years.

“The local, provincial, or the central government, none of them can fail,” said the Prime Minister adding that the days of the revolution were now over and the country had no option but to move towards prosperity,” state media RSS quoted the Prime Minister’s press corrdinator Chetan Adhikari as saying.

Prime Minister Oli had called all chief ministers and high-level provincial officials to Kathmandu to discuss various problems they are faced with during the early days of their tenure. The PM directed the chief ministers to consult the Attorney General-led facilitation body whenever they faced any legal hurdles.

The meeting comes as chief ministers of the provinces have been complaining that the centre is not helping them financially and politically. The chief ministers had been demanding that the centre help them establish the vital infrastructure needed for governance.
