Civic elections: RPP to kick-start nationwide campaign tomorrow

Kathmandu, March 17

The Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party will kick-start its nationwide campaign to rally support for its candidates during the May 14 civic elections.

The four-day campaign is to be launched in Kathmandu, and different programmes will be organised in various parts of the country to strategise for the election, the party says.

Party leader Rajaram Shresthat told RSS that all local units have been ordered to convene meetings to focus on the elections. The party will also formally declare that its election symbol will be a ‘cow’.

Following the unification of RPP and RPP-N a few weeks ago, there was controversy in the party over the election symbol. While former RPP leaders wanted to stick with the ‘plough’, RPP-N members wanted the ‘cow’. The party’s general convention last month could not take a decision on the issue and entrusted the central committee to take a call.
