Kathmandu, December 14

A policeman stationed at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has been arrested on the charge of bargaining for a bribe with a trader.

Sub-inspector Bishnu Dhungana has been arrested on the charge of seeking the bribe from a trader assuming that he would help him settle a case related to money laundering.

SSP Ashok Singh, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu, says his office had received a complaint against Dhungana.

“We have received a five-day remand to keep him in custody for further investigation,” he says.

A source says Dhungana had demanded Rs 2 million as the bribe.
