Children’s festival on the cards in Jhapa, organiser claims it to be the first of its kind in Nepal

Ujjyalo Children’s Club (Lakhanpur) is organising a children’s festival at the stadium in Lakhanpur, Jhapa, on January 27-29. According to the club, this is the fist such festival in Nepal.

Santosh Bhanadri, coordinator of the main organising committee, estimated that around 1.5 lakh people will turn up for the festival.

Children and representatives from child rights organisations will take part in the festival.

There will be stalls highlighting the need for holistic development of children.

Bishnu Pokharel, coordinator of the publicity committee, said painting exhibition, photo exhbition, dance shows, drama, health camp, science exhibition, children’s park and magic shows are some of the attractions.

Children’s clubs affiliated to Lakhanpur children’s network will put up their stalls at the fair.

Prajwal Niraula, president of UCC (Lakhanpur), said the festival aims to develop children’s leadership skills and enhance their capacities. Damak municipality and Lakhanpur VDC are coordinating the event.
