A lake formed following a landslide in the Nepal-China border area is approximately the size of 14 football fields, according to Chinese media.
Chinese state broadcaster CGTN reported that monitoring conducted by the Anneng Group through August 29 found that the landslide-dammed lake covers an area of approximately 100,000 square metres.
The area is roughly equivalent to 14 standard football fields.
Despite the lake’s considerable size, it is currently under control, CGTN reported, citing data from the Anneng Group.
Meanwhile, a second barrier lake, referred to as Lake-2, has also been identified about five kilometres upstream from the site.
Following the severe flooding on August 26, Chinese authorities have been continuously studying and monitoring the area for potential additional risks.
