Central members object to haphazard distribution of FNJ membership, see a conspiracy

Kathmandu, February 7

Federation of Nepali Journalists is in the throes of a bitter dispute over membership distribution. Three FNJ central committee members have issued a press statement against distribution of FNJ membership. They accused FNJ leadership of making members on the basis of a spoils system without informing CWC members.

CC members Dipendra Kunwar, Madhav Dulal and Roshan Puri criticised the opaque manner of distribution of FNJ membership “even at the central level of the FNJ.”

The press release states: On one hand, there’s a dispute over distribution of FNJ membership to non-journalists. On the other, a huge number of ‘members’ have entered the FNJ fold. This cannot be a coincidence.

The three CC members pointed that (FNJ leadership) has not obliged to their request to provide them the list of new FNJ members. They said they made the demand upon hearing that FNJ was preparing to add 3,000 new members.
