Kavre, December 14
Seventeen people died and 22 were injured in a bus accident in Bethanchowk rural municipality on Tuesday. Only 13 of the deceased have been identified so far.
According to the Chief District Officer of Kavre, Humkala Pandey the bus was returning to Bethanchowk from Banepa.
The CDO could not confirm how many people were on the bus but various reports suggest there were 39 people on board. The reason for the accident is also unknown.
Police say many of the injured passengers are in critical condition.
As per the preliminary investigation, the bus turned turtle after colliding against a wall due to overspeeding.
The injured are receiving treatment at Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital, Dhulikhel Hospital, Madhyapur Thimi Hospital, Bir Hospital, Neuro Hospital in Bansbari and other hospitals, Pandey informed.
