Bodies of two missing Italian climbers found on Pangbari Mountain

Kathmandu, November 4

The bodies of two Italian climbers who had been missing for five days on Pangbari Mountain in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-1, Gorkha, were found today.

According to police, the bodies of Stefano Faronato and Alessandro Gaputo of Italy were recovered from the first camp of Pangbari Mountain , said Raj Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office. He added that both bodies were found buried under snow.

According to him, the bodies of the climbers have been brought to Samagaun by helicopter.

While descending from Pangbari Mountain , three Italian nationals and one Nepali assistant had been stranded between the first camp and the base camp since last Wednesday.

Among them, 64-year-old Italian climber Welter Perlino was rescued by helicopter last Sunday, according to DSP Shrestha.

He added that the Nepali team members, Pemba Renji Sherpa, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, and Pasang Tamang, were also rescued the same day by helicopter and sent to Kathmandu for treatment.
