The flow of the Kimrong Khola, which was blocked by a landslide in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski, has reopened.
The landslide blocked the river at around 8pm on Tuesday night.
According to Kaski Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangal Baral, the blocked section of the river has opened naturally.
“The information was that a landslide had blocked the Kimrong Khola at around 8pm. But when we contacted locals early this morning, they informed us that the river had already reopened. The flow returned to normal overnight,” Baral told Onlinekhabar.
Baral said the immediate risk has now subsided as the river has returned to its normal flow.
A police team was also dispatched to the site at around 4am on Wednesday to assess the situation.
According to rural municipality chairperson Bishnu Bahadur KC, the river began gradually flowing again through one side of the landslide blockage at around midnight.
“The flow gradually opened through one side of the area blocked by the landslide from around midnight. It has now returned to its normal level. The immediate risk has passed,” KC told Onlinekhabar.
Residents living along the Kimrong Khola and Modi Khola riverbanks had been alerted and urged to remain cautious after the sudden landslide blocked the river on Tuesday night.
