Birgunj, February 14

A cyclist died in a truck hit incident in the Birgunj city of southern Nepal on Monday evening.

The victim has been identified as Nagendra Thakur, a resident of Apauni, Birgunj metropolitan city-20.

His cycle was hit by the truck (Bagmati province-03-001 Kha 1418) heading towards Parawanipur from Bahuari.

Crushed on the roadside, Thakur was critically injured and rescued by police to the Narayani Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

DSP Deepak Giri of the Parsa District Police Office says it has arrested the truck driver, Ramesh Gomba (33), a resident of Palung, Thaha municipality-4 of the Makawanpur district.

Meanwhile, locals briefly obstructed the road last night, demanding compensation for the victim’s family.
