Kathmandu, August 25

The Covid-19 Unified Hospital (Bir Hospital) has called post-Covid-19 patients to get admitted to the hospital for any medical service that they need, informing them it has 158 Covid-19 beds vacant.

The hospital’s Administrative Officer Dr Bhupendra Basnet says some of the beds also have ventilators and high-dependency unit services.

The statement comes at a time when other major hospitals in the Kathmandu valley such as Patan, Shukraraj and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital say they are under pressure of excessive numbers of patients. However, the Bir Hospital can upgrade its capacity to adjust as many as 500 patients in one week, informs Dr Basnet.

As of Tuesday evening, there are 112 Covid-19 patients at the hospital, including 60 in the high-dependency unit, 17 in the intensive care unit and 15 on ventilators.
