Bibeksheel Sajha won’t make it to federal Parliament

Kathmandu, December 14

Bibeksheel Sajha, touted as Nepal’s Aam Admi Party, will not win a seat in the federal parliament, official vote counts for the PR category show.

The party’s candidate for Kathmandu-1, Rabindra Mishra, lost the race to the Nepali Congress’ Prakash Man Singh by 800-odd votes. Similarly, the party won’t get enough votes in the PR category to cross the three per cent threshold to win at least one seat in the federal Parliament.

Other fringe political parties (The RPP, Naya Shakti, Nepal Workers and Peasant’s Party and Rastriya Janamorcha) that have one at one seat each in the FPTP category are also not going to get any seat in Parliament under the PR system.

However, Bibeksheel Sajha is likely to win at least a few seats in Province-3 state legislature.
