The Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi flash flood that struck on August 26 caused damage to the highest number of houses in Nuwakot, according to a government assessment.
According to the “Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi Flood 2083: Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment” report prepared by a government-formed team, a total of 7,570 houses were damaged by the flood. Of these, 3,977 were in Nuwakot alone.
The flood damaged 1,779 houses in Rasuwa and 1,451 in Dhading, the report shows. A total of 263 houses in Gorkha and 100 in Chitwan were also damaged.
Nuwakot also had the highest number of affected households. The flood affected a total of 8,317 households, including 4,418 in Nuwakot alone.
Similarly, 1,923 households in Rasuwa were directly affected by the flood, while 1,588 households in Dhading were affected. The flood also affected 274 households in Gorkha and 114 in Chitwan.
Nearly 33,000 people affected: How many in each district?
The flood affected a total of 32,963 people, according to the report. Nuwakot recorded the highest number, with 17,082 people affected.
The report states that 7,633 people in Rasuwa and 6,638 in Dhading were affected. A total of 1,096 people in Gorkha and 514 in Chitwan were also affected.
The flood affected 15 local government units across five districts.
