Kathmandu, September 20
1,436 bodies have now been found among those who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi flood.
According to Nepal Police, as of 11 am today, 1,434 bodies had been found across the affected districts: 223 in Rasuwa, 203 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 365 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East, and 222 in Nawalparasi West.
Police say DNA samples have been collected from the recovered bodies for identification purposes, and 1,292 bodies have been processed so far.
A total of 3,283 DNA samples have been collected for identification — 1,286 from the deceased and 1,997 from relatives. Details of 1,362 unidentified bodies have been uploaded to the police website.
A total of 7,975 police personnel have been deployed so far for search, rescue, relief distribution, and body management in the flood-affected areas. The search continues for 4,655 people still reported missing.
