Bhairahawa Airport: Chinese company resumes construction

Bhairahawa, April 3

The Chinese contractor working on the Gautam Budhha International Airport in Bhairahawa has resumed construction work after firing its local sub-contractor over a dispute.

Work on the ‘national pride’ project had been stalled for over a week following a dispute between North-west Civil Aviation and its sub-contractor North-west Infra Nepal.

Project Director Om Sharma said the Chinese company has mobilised its own human resource to build the airport’s terminal and fire buildings.

The Nepali contractor had halted work on the project alleging that the Chinese company did not pay on time. However, the Chinese company refutes the allegations.
