Sabuj Baniya has been elected president of Nepali Congress’ Kathmandu district committee.
Baniya received 652 votes while his competitor Bhimsendas Pradhan received 536.
Subaj Baniya and Bhimsendas Pradhan had filed their candidacy for Nepali Congress Kathmandu district leadership. Although four leaders had said they would run for the post, only Baniya and Pradhan filed their candidacy.
Narottam Baidhya and Rajulal Joshi, both of whom had said they would contest, had announced they will back Baniya for the post. Of the 10 constituency chiefs in Kathmandu, nine had said they will support Baniya.
