Some public transport workers staged a protest on Monday creating a tense situation in Kathmandu’s Balaju-Machhapokhari area.

They are protesting against the recent increase in traffic offense fines.

The aggressive protestors set two police vans on fire. They also demolished the temporary police post at Macchapokhari Chok. When two police vans caught fire on the main road, the police were not seen at the scene.

On Monday, they blocked the roads at Balaju, Machhapokhari, Gongabu and Samakhusi Chok.

They also announced a strike in public transport operation in the Kathmandu valley on Tuesday.
