Kathmandu, February 4

In order to enable a free, fair and fearless environment for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections, all four security agencies are to be mobilised under the coordination of the Nepal Army (NA) from Wednesday onwards in accordance with the Integrated Security Plan, 2082.

The government has already approved and brought into effect the HoR Member Election Integrated Security Plan, 2082, to ensure security during the election. In view of the upcoming March 5 elections, which are only a month away, the security agencies, including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal and National Investigation Department, are to be mobilised in an integrated manner.

The ‘election police’ recruited for election purposes as per the integrated security plan are also to be mobilised for poll security. The Nepal Police and Election Police will provide security in the interior circuit of the polling station. The Armed Police Force will be responsible for the second-layer security in coordination with the Nepal Army and Nepal Police.

Likewise, the Nepal Army will take up crucial security responsibility in the outer layer of the security circuit. The NA will be deployed in all 165 electoral constituencies for election security purposes from Wednesday, the NA said.

It may be noted that President Ramchandra Paudel, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and cabinet decision, had approved the mobilisation of the Army for election security management on 27 November 2025.
