ANFA softens action against nightclub visiting players

L-R: Bimal Gharti Magar, Anjan Bista, Santosh Tamang and Dinesh Rajbanshi

Kathmandu, December 24

Nepal’s football governing body, All Nepal Football Association, has revised the terms of suspension imposed on four national footballers after they were found visiting a nightclub in Kathmandu on the eve of their scheduled visit to Bhutan for a World Cup Qualifier match.

ANFA had suspended Bimal Gharti and Dinesh Rajbanshi for 90 days and Anjan Bista and Santosh Tamang for 45 days. All were fined Rs 50,000 each. It was stated that the term of suspension would begin on December 13.

However, responding to an appeal filed by the players, ANFA decided to consider the day after their club visit, November 16, as the first day of their suspension. It means the suspension on Bista and Tamang would end on December 31 whereas Gharti and Rajbanshi’s on February 12, 2020.
