Alleged killer from Rupandehi at large for nine years, police have no clue about his whereabouts

Bhairahawa, January 19

About nine years ago, Taranath Bohara of Rupandehi district was killed. After an investigation, police concluded that Fakir Riyaj of the district was behind the murder.

Subequently, Rupandehi police issued a red-corner notice against Riyaj, pointing that the latter was not in Nepal. Nine years on, there’s no trace of Riyaj. Nepal Police and Interpol country offices have neither received information about his whereabouts nor they know whether he is dead or alive.

On July 30, 2008, Rupandehi district police office recommended Interpol to issue a red-corner notice against Riyaj. The same day, Interpol issued such a notice, but to no avail. Police claim that Riyaj killed Bohara of Rupandehi on July 6, 2008 with help from accomplices Ganesh Dhobi, Ijaj Ansari, Bijaya Yadav and Ramananda Koiri.
