All stock market indicators rise, banking gains traction

Kathmandu, October 9

All sectoral indices, along with the NEPSE benchmark index, rose in the stock market on Friday. The NEPSE index gained 17.15 points to close at 2,591.

Turnover also improved, reaching Rs 4.83 billion today from Rs 3.93 billion the previous day.

Prices of 180 companies rose today, while 89 fell. Ten were unchanged. Banking, the largest sector, saw the strongest interest on Friday, with its sectoral index rising 1.28 percent, the most among all groups.

Among other sectors, development banks rose 0.61 percent, finance 0.33 percent, hotels and tourism 0.90 percent, hydropower 0.74 percent, investment 0.16 percent, life insurance 0.44 percent, manufacturing and processing 0.37 percent, microfinance 0.17 percent, non-life insurance 0.18 percent, others 0.28 percent and trading 0.37 percent.

Among individual stocks, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower rose 4.91 percent, Sindhu Bikas Bank 4.22 percent, Solu Hydropower 4.05 percent and Sanvi Energy 3.86 percent. Ridiline Energy fell 7.85 percent, Mahila Laghubitta 2.09 percent and Sayapatri Hydropower 2.08 percent.

The most actively traded companies today, in order, were Kumari Bank, Ghalemdi Hydropower, Himalayan Distillery, Solu Hydropower, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Sonapur Minerals, SY Panel and Balephi Hydropower.
