Kathmandu, November 8
Tribhuvan University (TU) is set to organise convocation ceremonies in all seven provinces. Previously, the university held the ceremony only in Kathmandu, but it is expanding the event to all seven provinces from this year.
Applications were invited separately from each province for participation in the ceremonies. However, the number of applications received from the provinces has been lower than expected.
According to TU Controller of Examinations Laxman Paudel, 95,540 students have been approved for inclusion in the graduation list, but only 21,274 have applied to participate in the convocation ceremony. Bagmati Province has received the highest number of applications, with 14,681 students.
A total of 2,215 students from Gandaki, 159 from Karnali, 2,010 from Koshi, 1,554 from Lumbini, 364 from Madhesh and 281 from Sudurpashchim have applied to participate in the ceremonies.
Paudel said the university would organise the ceremonies in all provinces despite the relatively low number of applications.
“We invited applications separately by province. We will finalise all arrangements by the first week of Mangsir,” he said.
A total of 95,540 students who passed various academic levels at TU between June 15, 2025, and mid-July 2026 are eligible for the convocation. Of the total eligible students, 15.10 per cent are from technical disciplines, while 84.90 per cent are from general disciplines. The eligible graduates also include 253 MPhil, 184 postgraduate diploma (PGD) and 166 PhD graduates.
Among the faculties, the Faculty of Management has produced the highest number of graduates, with 43,142 students. The Faculty of Education has 19,533 graduates, followed by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with 15,441 and the Faculty of Law with 3,001.
Similarly, 6,688 students from the Institute of Science and Technology, 5,160 from the Institute of Engineering, 1,920 from the Institute of Medicine, 463 from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, and 192 from the Institute of Forestry are eligible for the convocation.
