CPN-UML Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa, popularly known as Badal, has claimed that Western powers would bring down the current government if it failed to act in line with their interests.

Thapa made the remarks while speaking at a programme organised by the CPN-UML’s Damak Municipal Committee on Friday.

He alleged that Western powers had attacked political parties after the CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and the then CPN (Maoist), among others, failed to fulfil their interests. He claimed that party offices and leaders’ homes were subsequently destroyed.

Thapa also claimed that Western powers had previously helped Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden rise to prominence, only to destroy them later when they became obstacles to their interests.
