Fashion show in Bajura promotes tourism, local products and culture

Kathmandu, November 6

A fashion show has been held in Bajura to promote local products.

The organiser, Threads of the Himalayan Foundation, said it held “Farm to Fashion – Climate Awareness Runway 2026” on November 4. The foundation said the event brought fashion, climate awareness, cultural preservation, rural empowerment and sustainable tourism together on one platform.

According to Ramila Nemkul Shrestha, the foundation’s chair, the event aimed to promote the potential of sheep farming and local wool in Nepal’s Himalayan region, both nationally and internationally.

Its long-term goal is to build links between farmers, local skills, women and micro-entrepreneurs, and the fashion industry.

The organisers also said the event raised the voice of Himalayan communities affected by climate change. It highlighted the importance of sustainable production, natural resource conservation and local knowledge.

They added that it has created an opportunity to introduce the natural beauty and heritage tourism potential of Bajura and the Sudurpaschim region to the world.
