Kathmandu, October 8
The CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting has begun, with former president and senior leader Bidya Devi Bhandari taking part in the meeting for the first time since her appointment to the party’s senior leadership.
Bhandari was recently nominated as senior vice-chair by the UML Central Committee.
This is her first participation in a UML meeting in the capacity of senior vice-chair. She is also attending the Standing Committee meeting for the first time since being nominated as a senior leader.
The party secretariat meeting held on September 24 had decided to nominate Bhandari as a senior leader. The decision was subsequently endorsed by the Central Committee meeting.
Bhandari had served as a UML vice-chair before becoming president of Nepal.
