Kathmandu, October 7
Nepali Congress leader and former Tarun Dal president Udaya Shamsher Rana has said his leadership is needed to make the party more dynamic.
Rana has filed his candidacy for general secretary at the ongoing 15th General Convention.
Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Rana said he is in the race for general secretary representing the entire younger generation rather than out of personal interest. He based his claim on his past performance.
“I have not come forward just as Udaya Shamsher. I have filed my candidacy as the former president of Tarun Dal and a representative of the youth. The support and backing of my young colleagues is my main strength,” Rana said.
Recalling the party’s electoral success in Lalitpur when he led Tarun Dal, he claimed his image is clean and effective. Addressing the factional discontent and disagreements visible within the party, Rana said he has the ability to bring all sides into the mainstream.
“When I was president of Tarun Dal, I had a record of delivering a clean sweep for the Congress in Lalitpur. With that experience and confidence, I am ready to take on the responsibility of general secretary,” he said.
