Kathmandu, October 6
Nepali Congress leader Dr Minendra Rijal is set to contest for the post of vice-president.
Rijal informed leaders and cadres close to him of his decision during a discussion at his residence on Monday morning.
Rijal was elected a general convention representative from Morang Constituency No. 2. Since then, there had been speculation that he would contest for the post of vice-president. However, Rijal himself had said that he had no ambition for any party post.
Rijal reached the decision to contest for vice-president only shortly before the nomination registration process for the Nepali Congress general convention began today.
