Gandaki Chief Minister Pandey to run for Nepali Congress vice-president

Pokhara, October 5

Gandaki Province Chief Minister and Nepali Congress central member Surendra Raj Pandey has announced his candidacy for vice-president at the party’s 15th General Convention.

Pandey was previously close to outgoing president Sher Bahadur Deuba and vice-president Purna Bahadur Khadka. After the special convention, however, he renewed his active party membership under the leadership of president Gagan Thapa.

He joined Thapa’s camp after the Election Commission and the Supreme Court recognised Thapa’s leadership.

Announcing his candidacy, Pandey said he would move forward with unity within the party, a stronger organisation and ideological clarity.
