
Kathmandu, October 4
The opening ceremony of the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention has brought together senior leaders from several political parties at Khula Manch in Kathmandu.
The convention began on Sunday under the slogan “Respect tradition and resolve for change — a strong Congress for a prosperous Nepal.”
Among the political leaders attending the opening ceremony were NCP coordinator and former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Rajendra Lingden, Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal patron Resham Chaudhary and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal co-chair Sharat Singh Bhandari.
Leaders and representatives from other political parties and organisations have also been invited to the opening ceremony. The closed session and other programmes of the general convention will be held on Monday and Tuesday. The Central Election Committee has scheduled the party’s election process for October 7 and 8.
The Nepali Congress registered its general convention representatives on Friday and Saturday ahead of the convention.
