The Beni-Babiachour road section has reopened, four days after rain disrupted it.
The road connects three local units in western Myagdi to the district headquarters, Beni Bazaar, easing residents’ daily life since reopening.
The Infrastructure Development Office repaired 16 km of road from Beni to Babiachour, the centre of Mangala Rural Municipality, to Panabagar, restoring traffic from Tuesday evening.
On the Gandaki provincial road, repairs also progressed on the 24-km Beni Darbang-Bangepahiro stretch, connecting Dhaulagiri, Malika, Mangala and Tamankhola (Baglung) rural municipalities.
The road had been blocked since Asoj 10, affecting life across western Myagdi.
Provincial Assembly member Resham Bahadur Jugjali said machinery had been mobilised to reopen Beni-Panabagar, and repairs are now underway from both ends on the Panabagar-Ranabang-Dukhu-Ratodhunga-Tolabang-Bangepahiro stretch. He said coordination with the chief minister and the physical infrastructure ministry aims to restore traffic as quickly as possible.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Gairhe said all three tiers of government are coordinating to repair their respective roads and restore traffic.
Separately, the Kaligandaki has damaged the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, Nepal’s main trade route to China, at several points, cutting transport links to Mustang and affecting cross-border trade and apple and chyangra exports.
