Nepal has secured a consolation win in men’s kabaddi at the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan.
In the final group-stage match played on Thursday, Nepal defeated Malaysia 73–52.
Nepal built a strong lead of 37–21 in the first half. Although the second half was closely contested at 36–31, Nepal won overall by a margin of 21 points.
Nepal had already been eliminated from semifinal contention after losing three consecutive matches earlier in the tournament.
With the win over Malaysia, Nepal ended the group stage with a consolation victory.
The women’s team is playing its final group-stage match against Sri Lanka today. The women’s team remains in contention for the semifinals.
