Tehran/London, September 22
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that further US escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East would expand the geographical scope of the war.
The Revolutionary Guard said on Monday that Iran would “change the geography” of the war if the United States further escalated the conflict. It did not provide details of possible measures.
Meanwhile, the British military said a tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile on Monday while entering the Strait of Hormuz. Two crew members were injured in the incident.
The Strait of Hormuz is a major route for energy and maritime trade. Security incidents in the waterway can affect regional shipping and oil supplies.
Heightened Security Alert in Israel
The Israeli military has maintained a high security alert across the country amid the regional conflict. Security forces increased vigilance as many parts of Israel remained closed and quiet for Yom Kippur, one of the holiest days in Judaism.
Yom Kippur is a Jewish religious observance associated with atonement and fasting. Daily activities in various parts of the country were limited during the religious occasion. The developments came amid continued tensions in the Middle East, including Iran’s warning, the tanker incident in the Strait of Hormuz and heightened security in Israel.
