Kathmandu, September 22
The driver injured in a bus fire at Tripureshwor on Monday has died while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Hospital, also known as Burn Hospital.
According to police sources, the bus driver died on Monday night while receiving treatment.
The hospital said around 90 percent of his body had been burned. He was taken to the hospital at around 1pm following the incident.
The fire broke out at a bus stop at Tripureshwor Chowk around noon on Monday. The bus, operated by Riddhi Siddhi Yatayat, was numbered Ba 5 Kha 4274.
Police have preliminarily concluded that the driver himself set the bus on fire. According to the preliminary investigation, the incident followed a dispute between the driver and traffic police over a fine.
A committee has been formed to investigate the incident further. The circumstances surrounding the fire and the events leading up to it are being investigated.
