Nepal receives Rs 215.05 billion in remittances in first month of fiscal year

Nepal received remittances worth Rs 215.05 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank.

Remittance inflows in the month of Shrawan increased by 21.2 percent compared with the same period last fiscal year. Nepal had received Rs 177.41 billion in remittances in Shrawan of the previous fiscal year.

Nepal received a total of Rs 2.363 trillion in remittances during the last fiscal year, the central bank said.

In US dollar terms, remittance inflows increased by 10.2 percent to $1.40 billion in Shrawan. Such inflows had increased by 25 percent during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Net secondary income, or net transfers, stood at Rs 229.98 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year, up from Rs 193.85 billion during the same period last fiscal year.

Meanwhile, 42,693 Nepalis received final labour approval for foreign employment in Shrawan, while 27,748 obtained re-entry labour approval.

During the same month last fiscal year, 44,466 Nepalis had received final labour approval and 23,644 had obtained re-entry approval.
