Banepa (Kavrepalanchok), September 18
The number of dengue cases in Kavrepalanchok has reached 32.
According to the latest data released by the District Public Health Office, 32 people have tested positive for dengue in the district between July 16 and September 17.
According to Public Health Officer Shishir Pudasaini, the highest number of cases has been recorded in Banepa Municipality and Panchkhal Municipality, with 13 cases each.
He said three new cases were detected in the past 24 hours. One case each was confirmed in Panchkhal, Namobuddha Municipality and Mandandeupur Municipality.
Information Officer at the District Public Health Office Dipendrakaji Shrestha said no dengue cases have so far been reported in Dhulikhel and Panauti municipalities or in Bhumlu, Roshi, Temal, Khanikhola, Bethanchok, Mahabharat and Chaurideurali rural municipalities.
Last fiscal year, 59 dengue cases were confirmed in Kavre.
Shrestha said awareness campaigns and sanitation measures have been stepped up this year to prevent further spread of the disease, as the monsoon creates favourable conditions for mosquito breeding.
The District Public Health Office has urged people to protect themselves from mosquito bites, prevent water from accumulating in and around their homes, and wear long-sleeved clothing to prevent dengue.
It has also urged people experiencing symptoms such as fever, headache and body aches to visit a health facility for testing and treatment.
