Kathmandu, September 13

The Nepali Congress has opened the way for members of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s central committee to return to the party’s Central Working Committee.

A meeting of the party’s Working Committee held on Sunday decided to include all members of the previous committee who were left out of the new committee formed after the special general convention.

“All of them will be invited to join the Central Working Committee. They can join the committee and remain as part of the organising committee for the general convention,” a party office-bearer said after the meeting.

“We appeal to them to participate in the general convention. Those who want to remain in the Central Working Committee can join. Those who do not want to may choose not to,” the office-bearer said.

The Nepali Congress has scheduled its 15th General Convention for October 2 to 5. Ward-level conventions have been scheduled for September 19 and 20.

The party establishment has also decided to recognise all active members whose membership was renewed by the party until last December.
