Kathmandu, September 13
Efforts continue to collect DNA from relatives and from bodies recovered following the devastating flood on the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, which left many people missing.
According to Nepal Police, 1,846 DNA samples have been collected from relatives of missing persons.
Police spokesperson and DIG Abi Narayan Kafle said an additional 1,286 DNA samples have been extracted from bodies. In total, 3,132 DNA samples have been collected so far.
A total of 4,089 people remain missing from the flood. So far, 1,388 bodies have been recovered, of which 103 have been handed over to relatives, while 1,230 have been given last rites/managed on-site.
