Three Nepalis have been arrested in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Nepali woman Laxmi Rajbanshi in Fukuoka, Japan.
According to Japanese police, those arrested on murder charges are 28-year-old Sanju Tamang, who is studying at a vocational school in Hakata Ward of Fukuoka City; 25-year-old Amista Tamang, who lives in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture; and 22-year-old Prabin Lama, who also lives in Tosu City.
Rajbanshi, a resident of Chandragadhi in Jhapa, was found dead in a river in Fukuoka on August 19. Police suspect that she was struck on the head, strangled with a rope and then thrown from a veranda into the river.
Police have not disclosed whether the three suspects have admitted to or denied the charges.
The investigation has also revealed that Prabin Lama, who was in a romantic relationship with Rajbanshi, had been living in the same house as Sanju, one of those arrested.
Police suspect that a dispute related to the romantic relationship may have been behind the incident and are conducting a detailed investigation into the events leading up to the murder.
