Surkhet, September 8
The Karnali Highway, which had been completely blocked for three days due to a landslide, has resumed operation.
The highway reopened on Tuesday afternoon after the landslide at Gagane Khola along the Surkhet-Jumla road section in Kalikot was cleared.
The Karnali Highway was completely blocked after a landslide occurred at Gagane Khola on Bhadra 20. According to the concerned authorities, the road was cleared and reopened at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, Bhadra 23, allowing small and medium-sized vehicles to travel in both directions.
With the highway reopening, vehicles travelling from Surkhet and Dailekh toward Kalikot, Jumla and Mugu, as well as those travelling from these districts toward Surkhet, can now move more easily.
As landslides have become more frequent at various locations along the Karnali Highway during the monsoon season, travellers have been urged to exercise caution.
The concerned authorities said they are regularly monitoring the condition of the road due to the risk of further landslides causing another disruption.
