The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has made significant progress in restoring electricity to areas severely affected by the recent floods.
Nearly all households in Dhading (99.8%) and a substantial majority in Nuwakot (96.7%) have had their electricity supply restored despite adverse weather conditions. Both districts were severely affected by the Bhotekoshi flash floods on August 26 and their aftermath.
A dedicated technical team from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is actively working to restore power to the remaining households in Rasuwa.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway at several hydropower facilities, including Upper Trishuli-3A and 3B, Chilime and Rasuwagadhi. To facilitate these efforts, essential equipment such as mud pumps and generators has been airlifted to the affected sites.
Rescue teams have successfully accessed the Rasuwagadhi powerhouse, while debris removal is ongoing at various locations. At Upper Trishuli-3B, mini excavators are being used to clear debris.
In addition to immediate restoration efforts, the Ministry is prioritising long-term energy solutions by dispatching solar power systems to the affected areas.
So far, 13 solar power systems for offices and 500 household systems have been sent, with plans to distribute additional systems to 1,268 households in Rasuwa.
The Ministry has coordinated the transportation of the solar systems by helicopter to the affected areas.
