Man arrested for harassing a woman in Thamel

Police arrested a 30-year-old man after a video of him allegedly touching a woman inappropriately on a Thamel footpath went viral on social media.

Police have arrested a man accused of inappropriately touching a woman while she was walking along a footpath in Thamel, Kathmandu.

The arrested man has been identified as 30-year-old Salim Sah of Kabilasi Municipality-2, Sarlahi, who currently lives in Kathmandu. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested him in Kalanki on Saturday night.

A video showing the alleged incident went viral on social media several days ago. Police said the incident took place at around 8 pm on September 1 on a footpath in Thamel.

Police launched an investigation after the video surfaced and identified Shah as the person allegedly involved in the incident.

SP Dan Bahadur Thapa said the District Police Range, Kathmandu, is investigating the case under the offence of indecent behaviour.
