Gorkha administration urges trekkers to avoid Manaslu and Larke Pass routes

Kathmandu, September 6

The District Administration Office, Gorkha, has urged trekkers to avoid the Manaslu and Larke Pass trekking routes until further notice.

Issuing a public notice on Sunday, the administration asked trekkers who are preparing to travel or are already on the routes to suspend their trekking plans until another notice is issued.

A flood in the Therang Khola at Namrung on Sunday morning caused extensive damage to trekking trails, hotels and hydropower projects in the area.

According to the administration, the flood swept away the iron bridge connecting Chumnubri Rural Municipality wards 4 and 2, as well as the suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River connecting the rural municipality with the Namrung forest.

The administration issued the notice following the flood, stating that trekkers preparing for or currently undertaking journeys along the Manaslu or Larke Pass trekking routes should refrain from trekking until further notice.
