Kathmandu, September 6
Eight people, including a Nepal Police inspector and a rural municipality chairman, have been arrested from a casino.
SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Parsa, said the eight were arrested from Pokhariya Area Police Office, Parsa, and included Nepal Police Inspector Pradeep Poudel and 36-year-old Jaswant Yadav, chairman of Sakhuwa Prasauni Rural Municipality.
They are accused of entering a casino called Golden Finger Gaming Zone Pvt. Ltd., located in Birgunj-14, Gandak, and gambling there.
Those arrested include Inspector Poudel; 36-year-old Jaswant Yadav of Sakhuwa Prasauni Rural Municipality-6, Parsa; 30-year-old Chandan Sahani from the same area; and 39-year-old Om Prakash Baitha of Birgunj Metropolitan City-11.
Also arrested were casino staff accused of letting Nepali citizens into the casino: 28-year-old Bijay Kumar Patel of Birgunj-14, 31-year-old Dinesh Kumar Patel of Birgunj-25, 49-year-old Jaydev Sah of Mahottari’s Pipra Rural Municipality-5, and 50-year-old Pradeshi Sah of Birgunj-12.
