Police have arrested four people on charges of defrauding individuals by promising to send them to various countries for foreign employment with attractive salaries.
Those arrested are 41-year-old Yogendra Raut Yadav of Dhanusha; 25-year-old Alisha Madhikarmi of Bhaktapur Municipality-4; 29-year-old Haris Singh Mahara of Darchula, currently residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14; and 45-year-old Rajesh Prasad Jaiswal of Bara, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.
According to complaints filed by the victims, Yogendra allegedly took Rs 300,000 from one person promising to send them to the UK, Alisha took Rs 550,000 promising to send them to Dubai, Haris took Rs 1.091 million promising to send the victim to Portugal, and Rajesh took Rs 185,000 promising to send the victim to Dubai before cutting off contact.
Acting on the complaints, a police team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Yogendra from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11, Alisha from Bhaktapur Municipality-4 and Haris from Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14 on Tuesday. Rajesh was arrested from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, Bhaktapur, on Wednesday, according to the Central Police Newsroom.
The four have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
